I am currently reading The Golden Compass for an assignment. So far I am on the second part of the book and it's moving along really slow. Usually I'm sucked into a book within the first 5 chapters or else I don't continue reading. Since it's for a class I can't stop though. Dang. Marazz (my sister Marina) told me that the first book is okay but the next books The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass are super duper amazing so I guess I'll finish the Golden Compass not only for English, but for my own personal reading benefit. As you have read (maybe) in my previous post that I like to read, that is a true fact.
So anyway I pretty much fell asleep trying to get through the first chapter, and the second, and the third, and the fourth. I usually read right before bed for an hour or so. That's just the way I roll. It's just hard to get into this book because it's like a different kind of world and it took me a while to figure out what some of their vocabulary mean like what a daemon is. It's an animal form that changes shape that represents its owner depending on it's person's mood. That took about 3 chapters to grasp.
This book has a lot of symbolism and I kind of want to see the movie after i finish it. It would be cool to see how the movie makers brought the characters from page to screen.
